Earlier today, a man wearing a blue shirt stumbled upon a cat that had fallen into a sewer filled with putrid black mud. Without hesitation, he contacted the rescue team, and we swiftly arrived on the scene as instructed. The kindhearted gentleman waited patiently for our arrival and left only once he saw that we were there to help.
The poor feline had been trapped in the sewer for over an hour. Despite its best efforts to escape, it was unable to climb out of the cesspool. The muck had completely coated its body, leaving only its ears and eyes visible. As soon as it caught sight of us, the cat began to wail even louder. The noxious odor emanating from the sewer made me feel incredibly nauseous several times, which may explain why no one wanted to come near and save this cat submerged in filth.
With my gloves on, I attempted to rescue the cat from the drain with urgency. The poor feline was overwhelmed with fear and visibly shaking. Despite being safely removed from the water, it remained uneasy and cautious. Its body language reflected its unease as it lowered its head, moved cautiously, and tried to hide from sight. Using the bottle of mineral water I had on hand, I managed to clean off some of the mud and grime, allowing us to see its fur color. Unfortunately, the cat was still quite filthy and emitted an unpleasant odor.
Upon discovering the shivering little kitten, we sprang into action to provide it with some much-needed warmth. After taking a closer look, it became clear that the unfortunate feline had likely fallen into a nearby sewer in search of sustenance. Thankfully, a kind stranger heard the distressed cries of the cat and alerted us to its plight.
At last, the feline was securely brought back to the rescue facility in a delightful pink carrier. Resting on a cozy bed, the cat relished the comfort of the blanket and tranquility throughout the trip. After reaching its destination, the cat underwent a thorough cleaning process yet again. Our team meticulously cleansed every inch of the body and paid special attention to the ears and eyes, which are more prone to infections, by disinfecting and wiping them with cotton swabs.
After being exposed to cold water for an extended period, the young feline fell ill with a high temperature. It’s not just cats that struggle to maintain their body temperature and can experience various health concerns as a result. Consequently, we made a visit to the vet for a thorough checkup and proper treatment.
With proper treatment and attention, the cat made a full recovery. The rescue center staff provided vaccinations and addressed any other health concerns while also grooming and trimming the cat’s fur. Due to their affection for the feline, the animal lovers decided to keep it and assist in finding it a new, caring family.
